Newly redesigned for 2016, the 2017 Ford Explorer doesn’t just have a new look, it also has a new engine on tap, and the overall package is sure to appeal to a wide range of buyers and would-be owners.

Bold from the Outside In

For the previous model year, Ford redesigned the front fascia of the Ford Explorer to fall into line with the rest of the Blue Oval family makeover. The 2017 Explorer now sports a much more manly and modern front grille. Oversized headlights above equally large fog lights bookend a dominating chain-link-fence-like grille. Round the back, you’ll spot newly designed taillights along with an updated liftgate as well as all-new exhaust tips. Ford is also offering five new wheel designs to choose from, as well as an equal number of new exterior colours to peruse.

If the 2017 Ford Explorer’s new exterior look wasn’t enough, then step inside and this SUV is sure to impress with its well-laid-out centre stack, as well as touches like all-new Nirvana leather with micro-perforation and quilting available on the Platinum model.

The 2017 Ford Explorer also features a new engine available in the lineup: a new 2.3L EcoBoost unit that delivers 280 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. This twin-scroll turbocharger ensures the 2017 Ford Explorer is both responsive and efficient.

If it’s more power you’re looking for, though, there’s always the 3.5L V6 mill that offers up 290 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque or the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 that’ll produce 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Both the 3.5L V6 and 2.3L EcoBoost are available with FWD or 4WD, however, the 3.5L EcoBoost is only available as a 4WD model. Power is handled via a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission only.

Explore in Comfort with Up to Seven Passengers

The 2017 Ford Explorer offers up three rows of seating with room for seven. There’s also 594.8 litres of cargo space behind the third row. Collapse the third row and that space expands to 1,115.1 litres. That’s more than enough space to do some serious exploring in your 2017 Explorer.

The 2017 Ford Explorer combines efficiency and performance in a modern and sophisticated package. With five models to choose from, there’s a Ford Explorer for every budget and need.
