2018 Ford Expedition: better in every way

The 2018 Ford Expedition has been completely redesigned this year, and regardless of where you look, you notice that it has been improved and is now better than ever. It has more safety technology, it is more efficient, it can tow more and it features even more interior space. Its underpinnings have also been completely revamped, and Ford’s biggest and most versatile sport utility vehicle is now safer and more refined than ever.

The 2018 Ford Expedition features the same underbody as the new F-150

Ford made the bold shift to aluminum four years ago with its best-selling F-150, and now its full-size SUV gets the same treatment. The 2018 Ford Expedition indeed now features the same aluminum body as the F-150 which means that it will offer better handling, improved safety, and much more comfort for its passengers. Moreover, its wheelbase has increased by three inches which means more interior space for your 8 passengers.

The new Expedition will also boast class-exclusive technologies when it hits the market this fall including what Ford class its Pro Trailer Backup Assist System designed to make towing even easier.

Best-in-class towing capacity for the 2018 Ford Expedition

And chances are, 2018 Ford Expedition owners will be doing a lot of towing. Indeed, the new Expedition will be able to haul up to 9,300 pounds, giving it the best towing capacity in its class. This impressive brawn comes from a 3.5-liter Ecoboost engine that will be available in two power output levels. The first will offer 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque while the more powerful version will feature 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque.

These engines will be paired to a 10-speed automatic that will improve not only comfort, but fuel economy as well. Moreover, a new start/stop feature will also help in the fuel-efficiency department.

There will be three trim levels offered on the new 2018 Expedition, and each model will also be available in Expedition MAX trim for more interior space. Finally, a new FX4 Off-Road package will be available on the entry-level XLT model.
